I don't write fantasy fiction, but I like the nutshell descriptions of the fantasy clichés to avoid.  In thinking about it, though, I would like to do a fun writing exercise of putting them all in.  That would be a hoot.  (Oh, look!  Another CHICKEN!!)  (and yes, I actually have the chicken t-shirt, well, the sweatshirt)

Raised by Chaffinches

For too long I haven't clicked any of the links in the "Blogs" listing here.  Instead, I've been blogged down by reading Too Many Serious Pieces.  It's got quite dreary around here because of that.

To lighten my mood, I clicked on Raised by Chaffinches, and have had a pleasant time laughing at Birdy's take on the world.  Thank you Birdy.  I'll have to remember to do that more often.

I've got a Boston accent?

I visited Hull in 1993, but I didn't think it had that big of an effect.

Perhaps the accent in the Boston area resembles the distillation of someone with Minnesota and Misouri parents, whose initial accent was acquired in London, who then grew up in South Dakota, then lived in Bermuda, and then spent most of her adult life in Europe.

Boston?  Who'd a thunk.

Update:  My native Long Islander husband just took the quiz and it turns out he's probably from Wisconsin.
